The Hyundai Ioniq 7 won’t be coming out until 2024, but that hasn’t stopped the folks over at Gotcha Cars from imagining the large electric SUV that will be positioned above the Ioniq 5. They started out using an official press image of the latest Kia Telluride, which might seem a bit surprising, but Hyundai’s own vague teaser for the Ioniq 7 had a somewhat similar shape.
Expect a full-width LED light bar at the front along with intricate pixel-like lights in the same vein as we’ve already seen on the smaller Ioniq 5. Side cameras instead of conventional mirrors will likely be available, but let’s remember these are legal only in a handful of countries around the world as the legislation is progressing slowly.
Hyundai is likely to unveil a concept car next year or 2023 to preview the production model, much like the Concept 45 was a look int the Ioniq 5’s future and the Prophecy concept paves the way for next year’s Ioniq 6 sedan. The wheelbase should be even longer than that of the Ioniq 5, which already stretches at a stately 3,000 mm (118.1 in), meaning the Ioniq 7 is likely to come with a three-row layout.
The SUV increased dimensions over the Ioniq 5 will allow Hyundai’s engineers to fit a massive battery pack claimed to be as large as 100 kWh, good for a yet-to-be-confirmed WLTP range of 644 kilometers (400 miles). That might not be overly impressive by 2024 standards, but let’s keep in mind the Ioniq 7 will weigh well over two tons.
After the battery is depleted, expect owners of the large electric SUV to be able to recharge the pack at up to 350 kW, thus resulting in 62 miles (100 kilometers) of range in just five minutes of charging. The dual-motor setup will enable an all-wheel-drive layout and a rumored combined output that could easily exceed the 500-hp mark what with the Kia EV6 GT packing a mighty 577-hp punch.
