Tesla Cybertruck official page updated, specs and prices deleted

This is all you will be finding on the official product page for the Cybertruck as Tesla has quietly updated its website to remove most details regarding pricing and technical specifications. All that’s left is a notice about production starting in 2022 along with the possibility of making a fully refundable $100 deposit to get your name on the waiting list.

As with the multiple website updates made so far this year to reflect price bumps for basically all of its cars that are in production, Tesla has not issued an explanation as to why the Cybertruck’s page has been greatly simplified. As a refresher, when the electric pickup truck was originally unveiled back in 2019, it had the following rather juicy numbers:

Priced at $39,900, the base single motor version with rear-wheel drive promised more than 250 miles of range, a 0 to 60 mph sprint in six and a half seconds, and a maximum speed of 110 mph.

Up next was the midlevel $49,900 dual-motor AWD Cybertruck with 300+ miles of range, and a 4.5-second sprint en route to a top speed of 120 mph.

Then there was the flagship Tri-Motor AWD priced at $69,900, touted as having more than 500 miles of range and a whopping 2.9-second sprint, plus a maximum velocity of 130 mph.

The updated page now only mentions some of the high-end specs, such as the 0 to 60 mph run achieved in “as little as 2.9 seconds” and a maximum towing capacity of more than 14,000 pounds. While Tesla used to say 500+ miles of range, the plus at the end has been now removed, so the Cybertruck is officially claimed to do “up to 500 miles” between charges.

The mysterious change on the vehicle’s official product page comes only about a month or so after Tesla’s announcement regarding a delay in the start of production to 2022. Whether the updated website signals the company’s intentions of modifying specs and pricing is unclear at this point, but it is possible. However, we’re hoping those who have put down a deposit will be getting what they’ve been promised.
