2022 Tesla Model X Refresh customer deliveries have finally started

Better late than never, Tesla has officially kicked off deliveries of the Model X Refresh after multiple delays. The updated electric SUV was unveiled back in January, but it’s only now the first batch of vehicles have been delivered to their rightful owners. To mark the important milestone, the Palo Alto manufacturer has released a video on Vimeo (attached below) that gives us a closer look at the revised zero-emissions SUV.

If you haven’t put your name on the waiting list, we’re afraid you’re in for a long wait as Tesla’s website shows an estimated July 2022 delivery for the high-performance Plaid, which kicks off at $119,990. The wait is even longer if you want the standard Long Range, available from $99,990 with an estimated delivery date of September 2022.

Meanwhile, reports say the first five 2022 Model X Refresh units have been handed over during a small event organized this weekend in Fremont, California. Tesla has already set a new production record for 2021 even though it’s only mid-October, and what’s even more impressive is that the numbers don’t obviously include any Model Xs since shipments to customers are only now starting. With more and more electric SUVs delivered, the remaining two and a half months until the end of the year should translate into even higher numbers that will be virtually impossible to beat by other EV manufacturers.

As a refresher, the 2022 Model X gets just about the same array of tweaks as the Model S Refresh, with the obvious differences being the SUV keeps its spectacular Falcon Wing rear doors and the massive windshield. Tesla is selling the vehicle with the option to pick an interior layout with five, six, or seven seats, while wheel choices are limited to 20- and 22-inch sets.

The standard dual-motor Long Range can cover up to 360 miles between charges and will do 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds before topping out at 155 mph. Upgrade to the tri-motor Plaid and performance increases substantially, with the sprint taking just 2.5 seconds while top speed goes up to 163 mph. On the flip side, the Plaid has a slightly lower range of 340 miles. Both flavors of the Model X Refresh come as standard with all-wheel drive.
