Tesla Cybertruck teaser video shows the EV in urban, rural environments

Tesla is not your typical car company as it rarely advertises its future products through teaser videos. In a rare marketing move, a new clip shows the hotly anticipated Cybertruck tackling both urban and rural environments. If you’re thinking the quality of the footage could be a bit better, you are not alone. There is a good explanation as the video was not published directly by the Palo Alto electric car manufacturer.

Instead, EV promoter Harsimran Bansal stumbled upon the video being played on a TV while visiting one of Tesla’s showrooms. He noticed the footage was new, deciding to act fast by firing up the camera on his smartphone to record the clip and share it with everyone on social media. Naturally, the one-minute video is already viral on Twitter since there’s still a lot of hype surrounding the Cybertruck despite being pushed back.

Eagle-eyed readers will notice the electric pickup is also being featured on a worksite, not just any worksite, but the Giga Texas factory where the Cybertruck will be manufactured. As you may recall, Tesla has delayed the start of assembly to late 2022, which means production is unlikely to fully ramp up until 2023. More than one million people have made reservations, and suffice it to say, they’re in for a long wait.

Curiously, Tesla updated the official product page for the Cybertruck earlier this month to remove most of the technical specifications, only keeping the ones for the flagship version with three electric motors. Not only that, pricing details for all the trim levels have vanished. As always, the company has not issued an official explanation, so people are already speculating changes to the specs and prices are planned compared to what was announced in November 2019 when the truck was originally unveiled.

Meanwhile, Tesla has announced it has assembled several Alpha prototypes for testing purposes. Speaking of prototypes, the one shown here seems to be virtually identical to the original electric truck introduced a couple of years ago. The production version will look slightly different, with one of the changes being the addition of side mirrors. On a related note, CEO Elon Musk has said the final Cybertruck will also feature all-wheel steering to provide a lower turning circle and improve stability during high-speed cornering.
