Despite declining sales due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Audi brand is moving forward with their e-tron expansion. One of the models to join the future lineup could be the Audi TT electric sports car. Even Audi confirmed the model about a year ago: “In a few years, we will replace the TT with a new emotive model in the same price range: with an electric car.”

Today, new rumors surface around the TT electric, courtesy for Motor Trend. According to the magazine, the new model will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform that debuted last year with the ID.3. And the big surprise, with an all-wheel drive configuration.

The current TT is only available with a front-wheel drive option. The quattro electric sports car is said to have its battery pack positioned underneath the floor, within the wheelbase. The coupe body style will be joined once again by a cabriolet.

Furthermore, the report from Motor Trend talks about an affordable starting price. Compared to the TT Coupe available today starting at $45,500, the entry-level Audi TT e-Tron model could cost somewhere around the $50,000 mark. Of course, the figure is based on the assumption that the battery packs will get cheaper in the near future.

The final badge on the boot is also likely to be the Audi TT e-Tron. Design wise, the report claims it will still be a two-door model with a beautiful roofline.

Audi allegedly aims to launch the car in 2023.
