Buzz<\/a>. Ever since the namesake concept was unveiled nearly three years ago, various company officials went on record to say this or that about the electric revival of the legendary Microbus. Case in point, CEO Ralf Brandst\u00e4tter had a few words to say about the new EV.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <em>Autocar<\/em>, VW\u2019s head honcho promised the ID. Buzz will demonstrate the vehicle has been developed by \u201cpeople who love cars.\u201d He went as far as to say it\u2019ll \u201cdefinitely be the most emotional of our electric models.\u201d The latter statement comes as somewhat of a surprise since the <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/11\/03\/2022-volkswagen-id5-id5-gtx-debut\/\">high-performance GTX<\/a> versions of the ID.4 and ID.5 fit that bill as well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14870\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/VW-ID-Buzz-pre-production-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/VW-ID-Buzz-pre-production-1.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/VW-ID-Buzz-pre-production-1-1536x864.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The highest-ranked executive told the British magazine the 2022 ID. Buzz will help VW in its quest to evolve into \u201cthe most desirable brand for sustainable mobility.\u201d The numerous teasers have revealed the largest electric model to ride on the MEB platform won\u2019t look as exciting as the 2019 concept. Nevertheless, we still have high hopes the road-going model will add spice to an otherwise bland van segment.<\/p>\n<p>It will be the first MEB-based EV to offer a commercial version as VW plans to sell the ID. Buzz in both passenger- and cargo-oriented configurations. Not only that, but a California camper will follow in 2025 when there are also plans to introduce an autonomous derivative for ride-hailing services. Unlike the <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/10\/19\/vw-id3-update-2023-facelift\/\">ID.3<\/a> and ID.5, the boxy van will be sold in the United States where we\u2019re only expecting to see the passenger model with a long-wheelbase setup.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13770\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/VW-ID.-Buzz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1092\" height=\"728\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Hanover-built VW ID. Buzz will come in both rear- and all-wheel-drive flavors courtesy of a single- and dual-motor setup, respectively. At the top of the food chain should be the powertrain available in the GTX-badged SUVs where it pumps out close to 300 hp.
