Company CEO Stephan Winkelmann spoke with <em>Autocar<\/em> and <em>Automotive News Europe<\/em> to outline its electrification agenda for the years to come. The Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese marque will kick things off in 2023 with the <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/12\/20\/lamborghini-hybrid-v12-prototype-spy-video\/\">Aventador\u2019s replacement<\/a>, which will rock a new V12 engine as the central part of a hybrid powertrain.<\/p>\n<p>Come 2024, the Urus will gain a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup, which will be followed around 2028 by a purely electric car. Meanwhile, Lamborghini will exclusively sell hybrids by 2025 to cut fleet CO2 emissions by at least 50%, according to the firm\u2019s boss. He ruled out the introduction of a V6 engine, which can only mean the Huracan successor will retain the V10, but with an electric twist.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9775\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2022-Lamborghini-Countach-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2022-Lamborghini-Countach-6.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2022-Lamborghini-Countach-6-1536x864.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The exotic Italian car manufacturer is sticking with large-displacement engines as Winkelmann claims they\u2019re important for the firm\u2019s heritage. He did admit making the V10 and V12 comply with stricter emissions regulations is a tough job. As to whether the next-generation Urus will still have a twin-turbo V8, it\u2019s too soon to say.<\/p>\n<p>As previously announced, <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/12\/08\/lamborghini-ceo-electric-vehicle-2027-or-2028\/\">Lamborghini will spend more than \u20ac1.5 billion<\/a> to electrify its current three-model portfolio by the middle of the decade.
