A company spokesperson has told <em>Financial Times<\/em> the Zwickau factory located in east Germany will halt production for four days next week. In addition, the <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/01\/29\/vw-id3-production-dresden-factory\/\">Dresden<\/a> assembly facility will also be on a hiatus next week, but only for three days.<\/p>\n<p>According to the automaker, it\u2019s unable to obtain the necessary electrical wires from suppliers located in Ukraine. The names of the suppliers have not been announced, but VW admitted there are \u201cdisruptions in the supply chain.\u201d It went on to mention the company has several suppliers based in the western region of the war-affected country.<\/p>\n<p>With the VW Group unable to know when the bottlenecks will end, it\u2019s already attempting to find a method to secure the electrical wires from a supplier outside of Ukraine. <em>Financial Times<\/em> mentions electric cabling for cars is also made in North Africa, but it\u2019s unclear whether the company is in contact with suppliers based there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5907\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2022-Audi-Q4-E-Tron-Sportback-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1599\" height=\"1654\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2022-Audi-Q4-E-Tron-Sportback-16.jpg 1599w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2022-Audi-Q4-E-Tron-Sportback-16-1485x1536.jpg 1485w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1599px) 100vw, 1599px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Zwickau plant is a major EV production hub for VW since it makes no fewer than six models for three different brands: ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, along with the Audi Q4 E-Tron, Q4 Sportback E-Tron, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/05\/25\/2021-cupra-born-reveal\/\">Cupra Born<\/a>. As for the Dresden plant where the Phaeton used to be made, it\u2019s now assembling the ID.3 electric hatchback.<\/p>\n<p>Another electric model will enter production in the first half of 2022 when the ID. Buzz will hit the assembly line at the plant in Hannover. It will be produced in passenger and <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2022\/02\/25\/2023-vw-id-buzz-cargo-video\/\">cargo<\/a> versions, with a California camper to arrive around 2025.
