Well, kind of. It won\u2019t be the same underpowered vehicle from the 1980s made famous by the Back to the Future trilogy. Instead, the spiritual successor will keep up with the times by adopting an all-electric powertrain. It has been teased a couple of times already, but aside from being an EV, information has been rather limited.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, <em>Car and Driver<\/em> sat down and had a chat with the chief executive officer of the new company known as DeLorean Motors Reimagined. Having previously worked at <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2022\/02\/25\/tesla-new-factory-shanghai-report\/\">Tesla<\/a> and Volvo, it\u2019s safe to say Joost de Vries knows a thing or two about the car industry. He mentioned the upcoming EV will have a range of more than 300 miles (483 kilometers), which should be the norm among electric cars nowadays.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16042\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/italdesign-teaser.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/italdesign-teaser.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/italdesign-teaser-696x341.jpg 696w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/italdesign-teaser-1068x524.jpg 1068w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the battery pack and the electric motors will be sourced from a third party, the company intends to develop its own platform for the reborn automotive icon. Italdesign is taking care of the styling, which will include the spectacular gullwing doors of its ancestor. As to how it will look, Joost de Vries told <em>C&amp;D<\/em> the car\u2019s appearance will illustrate how it might\u2019ve looked \u201chad it been around for the last 40 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s representative specified it won\u2019t deliver hypercar performance, but it will be tailored to \u201cpeople who want to drive.\u201d Being a new company, DeLorean Motors Reimagined initially aims for a low-volume production run. The world premiere will take place at the Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance, which is scheduled for August.<\/p>\n<p>There are still a lot of technical specifications we don\u2019t know about the new DeLorean, but we\u2019re hoping it will be a more successful product than its source of inspiration. Some of you will recall the original DMC-12 was a short-lived vehicle.
