Porsche introduced the rear-wheel-drive Taycan in China back in late June 2020, but it’s only now the entry-level variant of the electric sedan is being launched globally. Preliminary tests show it’s been well worth the wait, at least when it comes to accelerating in a straight line. Dressed for the occasion in an optional lilac-like Frozen Berry paint, the tail-happy Taycan did the sprint to 60 mph in 5.18 seconds as per the specialist timing gear mounted on the dashboard. Even though the road was damp and Carwow’s Mat Watson had to gently steer the Porsche a bit to the left, it still comfortably beat the official time of 5.4 seconds.
