According to Autocar, BMW has raised prices by \u00a33665, meaning the entry-level car now costs from \u00a339,690. There is still a \u00a33000 electric car grant. The i3s&#8217; prices have also gone up, starting at \u00a342,220. There is no official statement on the price hike, but the British journalists confirmed with a BMW spokesman that the i3 production will continue until at least 2024.\u00a0The extended production cycle comes in play due to the renewed popularity of the electric hatchback.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/BMW-i3s-Autocross-4762.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-480\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/BMW-i3s-Autocross-4762.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1620\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/BMW-i3s-Autocross-4762.jpg 1620w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/BMW-i3s-Autocross-4762-1536x1024.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2020\/11\/29\/bmw-i3-one-of-the-best-and-smartest-interiors-of-all-time\/\">The BMW i3 was never a perfect car<\/a>. When it first launched, its battery was lacking on arrival, producing a lower total range than even some older competitors. It also lacked the performance punch of newer EVs at the time, such as the Tesla Model S. So, on paper, the i3 seemed a bit lackluster. Now, though, looking back at the i3 and how it\u2019s evolved since its 2014 debut, it not only seems like a much better car but it also seems like it could be one of the best BMWs of all time.<\/p>\n<p>The i3 was the first BMW to ever use a carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) chassis and it was by far the cheapest car to use a full carbon tub. In fact, it still is. If you want a car with a carbon fiber chassis, you\u2019re going to have to look at McLarens because there\u2019s nothing else on the road with such construction.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2020, the BMW i3 reached 200,000 units produced in Leipzig. That anniversary unit\u00a0was an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2020\/02\/11\/test-drive-bmw-i3s-can-i-drive-it-in-the-winter\/\">i3S model<\/a>, dressed in Fluid Black Metallic, with BMW i Blue accents all around.<\/p>\n<p>All versions of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwblog.com\/2019\/02\/08\/test-drive-2019-bmw-i3-120-ah-getting-there\/\">i3 use a 120 Ah<\/a>\u00a0battery with a battery capacity of 42.2 kWh.
