It was supposed to go on sale by mid-2021, but executive vice president Asako Hoshino told the media its rollout has been pushed back by a few months.<\/p>\n<p>Why? You probably already know the answer to this question as the coronavirus pandemic corroborated with the chip shortage both impacted the Ariya&#8217;s launch. The EV has been a long time coming taking into consideration the <a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/02\/01\/nissan-leaf10-special-edition-reveal\/\">Leaf electric hatchback<\/a> was introduced in Japan back in December 2010. The most expensive of the bunch has the bigger 91-kWh battery (87 kWh usable) with enough juice for 360 miles (580 kilometers) of range based on the local WLTC Japan cycle.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1418\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2021-nissan-ariya-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2021-nissan-ariya-2.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2021-nissan-ariya-2-1536x864.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This top-spec Ariya has all-wheel drive courtesy of dual motors providing a combined output of 389 horsepower (290 kilowatts) and 600 Newton-meters (443 pound-feet) of torque. The electric punch is good for a 0 to 62 mph (100 km\/h) sprint in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph (200 km\/h). These are impressive performance numbers taking into account the SUV&#8217;s weight varies between 1,900 and 2,200 kilograms (4,189 to 4,850 pounds) depending on the trim level and equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Nissan dealers in the US have referred to the Ariya as a potential game-changer, so it&#8217;s safe to say they&#8217;re eager to get their hands on the hotly anticipated electric SUV.
