Heavy investments into battery tech and electric powertrains typically require years worth of high sales figures to make back. Considering that Audi\u2019s e-tron models, while impressive, haven\u2019t been huge sellers thus far, it\u2019s not surprising that Audi isn\u2019t currently profiting from them. However,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.quattrodaily.com\/audi-q6-e-tron-confirmed-by-ceo-will-launch-in-2022\/\">\u00a0Audi CEO Markus Duesmann<\/a>\u00a0claims that e-tron models will become profitable in three years time.<\/p>\n<p>In three years, Audi will be close to the end of its investments in internal combustion, which will help its overall profit margins. Come 2026, Audi will<a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/06\/21\/2026-audi-to-stop-making-new-internal-combustion-engine\/\">\u00a0cease all development<\/a>\u00a0of new engines, only building the engines for vehicles it has on sale at the time. By 2033, Audi plans on\u00a0ceasing all internal combustion engine\u00a0manufacturing altogether. With the decrease in piston engine investment, Audi will have more money to invest in electrification and manufacturing, thus helping to decrease cost and increase profitability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2022-Audi-Q4-E-Tron-Sportback-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5903\" src=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/2022-Audi-Q4-E-Tron-Sportback-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1443\" height=\"1396\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, in a few years\u2019 time, Audi will also have more e-tron models on sale. The Audi<a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/04\/19\/audi-a6-etron-reveal\/\">\u00a0A6 e-tron<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/evglobe.com\/2021\/03\/18\/audi-q6-e-tron-launch-2022\/\">Q6 e-tron<\/a>, and potentially a smaller A4-sized e-tron model will be on the market. The aforementioned models are built on architectures that were developed in-joint with the rest of the Volkswagen Group. That electric platform sharing helps keep costs down dramatically, as it spreads the R&amp;D investment over several brands.
