Fisker Inc. teamed up with auto supplier Magna International to turn the electric Ocean SUV into a production version. The company still has a long way to go as the model is not scheduled to hit the assembly line until November 2022. In the meantime, Henrik Fisker took to LinkedIn to preview what he describes as being a lifestyle pickup truck.
Right off the bat, it’s important to mention the EV teased here is not the Alaska electric truck that Henrik Fisker “accidentally” previewed on Twitter back in February 2020. The new official rendering published by the company’s head honcho is for a different truck, one that he says “might” go into production at some point in the future.
If it does, the utilitarian vehicle will be the “lightest, most efficient EV pickup in the world.” The exterior design is bound to go through some changes as Henrik Fisker says a road-going model would look “way more radical.” We do notice the pickup bed is rather but that’s not all too surprising seeing as how the firm’s CEO and chairman calls it a lifestyle truck. These are usually on the small side when it comes to the bed’s size, much like it’s the case with the Honda Ridgeline for example.
We’re intrigued by the door handle design and why the rear handle is positioned after the doors. The roof-mounted spoiler hosts a wide third brake light while the sweptback taillights lend the truck a dynamic look we’d like to see in real life. The bulging wheel arches and sharp body lines give it a powerful stance and we’re noticing there’s a tiny glass section near the A-pillar to improve visibility.
Don’t hold your breath to see a production-ready electric lifestyle truck anytime soon considering Fisker has bigger fish to fry right now. The Ocean SUV is the absolute priority and pledges to be the “world’s most sustainable vehicle.” It starts off at $37,499 before incentives and boasts an 80-kWh battery for a range estimated at 250-300 miles (402-483 kilometers).
