Volkswagen ID.4 Pro AWD confirmed by EPA with 249 miles of range

Following news about the rear-wheel-drive ID.4 Pro receiving a 260-mile rating and the Pro S a 250-mile rating from the Environmental Protection Agency, Volkswagen is happy to report the EPA has published the range figures for the equivalent all-wheel-drive models. The Pro AWD will go 249 miles on a single charge whereas the Pro S is going to have enough juice for 240 miles.

It’s a marginal range loss we certainly wouldn’t mind considering the benefits of having the all-wheel-drive version, especially in some parts of the United States where winters tend to be rough. These AWD-equipped models share an 82-kWh battery pack and a combined output of 295 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque courtesy of a dual-motor setup.

Getting behind the wheel of Volkswagen’s electric SUV with AWD is going to set you back $43,675 for the Pro version before any applicable EV discounts, such as the federal tax credit of up to $7,500. The better-equipped Pro S retails for $48,175, and both support fast-charging at 125 kW, in which case the battery can be replenished from 5% to 80% in approximately 38 minutes.

It’s worth noting the ID.4 fitted with all-wheel drive is quite similar to the ID.4 GTX (pictured above) available in Europe where it’s advertised as a performance version. Stepping up to the Pro S brings a lot of extra goodies, including adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic glass fixed roof, and even an illuminated grille. To sweeten the deal, VW USA throws in an electric tailgate, 12-inch infotainment, and leatherette-wrapped front seats, which are 12-way electrically adjustable.

As a final note, VW is selling all flavors of the ID.4 bundled with three years of unlimited charging at the Electrify America DC Fast Chargers network, which currently has more than 650 charging stations and more than 2,700 DC fast chargers.
