Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition costs $64,900

The moment many enthusiasts have been waiting for has (nearly) arrived. On Wednesday, April 28, Ford will finally open the order books for the Mustang Mach-E in the sporty GT specification. Math starts at $59,900, but if you want the absolute flagship, the Performance Edition is going to set you back a hefty $64,900.

Customer deliveries of both are scheduled to commence early fall and the dynamic duo will offer a generous peak horsepower of 480 hp. Step up to the Performance Edition and the instant torque rises from the standard model’s already healthy 600 lb-ft to a mountain-moving 634 lb-ft. The sportier of the two promises a 0 to 60 mph time in only three and a half seconds, which was supercar level not that many years ago. Settle for the standard GT and the sprint will take 3.8s.

The Performance Edition is more than just the extra torque as it features additional upgrades over the regular Mustang Mach-E GT. For example, the 385-mm front brake rotors have red Brembo calipers behind the 20-inch alloys finished in Ebony Black and shod in Pirelli summer tires measuring 245/45R20 developed specifically for this application.

To sweeten the pot, the Blue Oval throws in its proprietary MagneRide Damping System for better handling. Both GT models come with an illuminated pony badge on the Carbonized Gray front grille, while the body will be available in several finishes, including this exclusive Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat and the Grabber Blue Metallic originally offered only for the Mustang Mach-E First Edition.

Stepping inside the cabin, the speedy electric SUV gets Ford Performance seats wrapped in what the company refers to as Performance Gray ActiveX Seating Material with metallic stitching and a GT-exclusive Miko perforated reflective insert. Both variants of the flagship are compatible with over-the-air updates and can be had with BlueCruise, Ford’s hands-free highway driving system.

As far as range is concerned, the Mach-E GT will do an EPA-estimated 250 miles between charges while the more expensive Performance Edition is expected to have enough juice for a slightly lower 235 miles.
