Mercedes has already kicked off the teaser campaign for the EQE, a smaller electric sedan that will be positioned below the flagship EQS. Ahead of its official debut next month at the IAA Munich show, the Tesla Model S rival from the three-pointed star has now been spotted undergoing final testing on the busy streets of Germany.
It stubbornly has a full camo attire as the luxury brand doesn’t want to reveal the EQE’s design secrets just yet. Admittedly, we already have a pretty good understanding of how the car is going to look as it’s easy to imagine it will be a shrunken-down EQS, but with a couple of fairly significant changes. We can already tell it’s less swoopy and boxier than its bigger brother, and it seems to have a trunk lid instead of a more practical liftgate.
The man with the camera wasn’t able to take a peek inside the cabin, but we’ll remind you Mercedes has already previewed the EQE’s interior through a revealing teaser image. Unsurprisingly, the cabin is going to be virtually identical to that of the EQS, but without the passenger-side screen offered as optional equipment on the larger and more expensive EV.
The EQE won’t be the only world premiere from Mercedes at IAA Munich as we’ll also get to see a high-performance version of the EQS joined by a plug-in hybrid AMG GT 4-Door Coupe with a rumored 800-horsepower output. The fully electric EQS SUV will be previewed by a Maybach-badged concept and we’re hearing an all-electric G-Class, tentatively called EQG, will be there as well prior to the production model’s confirmed arrival in 2024.
Another electrified product from Mercedes that enthusiasts are patiently waiting for is the AMG One, a hybrid hypercar that uses a Formula 1-derived turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 engine working together with four electric motors. It was originally unveiled as a concept nearly four years ago, but development hurdles have pushed back the production version’s debut, consequently delaying the start of customer deliveries.
