Tesla reveals Q3 2021 results, sets new record with 241,300 deliveries

It’s that time of the year for another set of quarterly results for Tesla, and Q3 was an exceptionally good one for the Palo Alto manufacturer. In Q3 2021, the EV expert rolled out 237,823 units and delivered 241,300 to customers from all over the world. Needless to say, the bulk of the production is represented by the more affordable Model 3 and Model Y, which accounted for 228,882 while the Model S/X was built in just 8,941 examples.

It’s the same story if we are talking about deliveries, with the vast majority of cars shipped to clients being either a Model 3 or a Model Y, representing 232,025 of the total deliveries. The Model S and Model X accounted for just 9,257 of the total deliveries. It’s safe to say Q3 has been great for Tesla as it managed to set new records for both production and deliveries in an automotive industry negatively impacted by the microchip shortage.

Interestingly, Tesla’s page dedicated to investors where these production and delivery figures have been published mentions the number of deliveries is “slightly conservative” since it only takes into account cars delivered to the customers and all correct paperwork. The final numbers could be up to 0.5% higher or even more, with final figures to be disclosed when the company will reveal its Q3 earnings.

Another aspect worth taking into account is the fact Model X Refresh deliveries haven’t started yet as the updated electric SUV has been pushed back. The luxury high-riding vehicle should begin to arrive at customers later this month following multiple delays since it was officially revealed at the start of the year.

Factoring in Model Y production at Gigafactory Texas and Berlin later this year, Q4 2021 is looking quite promising for Tesla as the company might set a new production record. Not only that, but annual production for 2021 could exceed one million vehicles for the first time.
