2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E gets $750 discount for unfulfilled 2021MY orders

The microchip shortage has given Ford a lot of headaches in terms of vehicle production, forcing the Blue Oval to push back the delivery of many customer cars. The Mustang Mach-E is on that list as there’s a backlog of orders for the 2021MY the Dearborn-based marque won’t be able to clear before the switch to the upcoming 2022 model year.

The silver lining for those willing to patiently wait for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E rather than cancel their orders is that Ford will ease their wait by handing out a $750 discount. Cars Direct managed to get a hold of a letter sent to dealers, informing them about incentives applicable on a variety of 2022MY vehicles, including the electric SUV.

The minor price cut is available regardless if you are buying or leasing, but it’s actually the smallest when compared to discounts available for other Ford models. For example, the incentive can be as high as $3,500 if you’re purchasing an F-150 fullsize pickup truck outright, while the biggest lease discount is $2,250 for the Explorer SUV.

While unfulfilled 2021 Mustang Mach-E orders will be automatically converted to 2022MY vehicles, there is one problem. Ford has yet to release full specifications for the new model year, so people waiting in line to get the zero-emissions SUV don’t know for sure what vehicle they will be getting. For what it’s worth, the automaker says it “will convert orders to the same specification, or the closest possible specification.”

Those not satisfied with the long waiting time can get a pre-built Mustang Mach-E for a $2,000 discount, provided they’re still able to find out sitting on dealer lots. Alternatively, the 2022MY is said to bring slightly more range, quicker charging, and could offer a longer list of standard equipment, but it’s better to wait for an official announcement from Ford.
