2023 Fisker Ocean Makes European Debut With 390 Miles Of Range

Fisker unveiled the production-intent Ocean last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and now the electric crossover is celebrating its European debut. With no Geneva Motor Show this year, the EV startup has decided to bring its Tesla Model Y rival to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. To be built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria from later this year, the five-seat model aims to deliver the longest range in its segment.

The Ocean will be sold in Sport, Ultra, and Extreme trim levels, plus the One launch edition capped at 5,000 examples. Production is scheduled to commence on November 17 and the launch edition will be prioritized before the regular models arrive in 2023. This special version is based on the range-topping Extreme but with exclusive features.

Fisker still isn’t willing to disclose the battery pack’s capacity, but depending on the trim, we do know the Ocean will deliver from 440 to 630 kilometers in the WLTP cycle and from 250 to 350 miles in the EPA test. However, these are far from being official numbers since they’re only projections made by the company based on internal simulations.

Seven paint choices will be available upon launch, with a further seven to be added to the color palette in 2023. Customers will get to pick from several alloy wheel designs in 20 to 22 inches sizes, along with three themes for the interior where there are optional color packages. Speaking of the cabin, all Fisker Ocean models have a 17.1-inch touchscreen that rotates to offer both portrait and landscape orientations. Some of the models can be fitted with a solar roof for up to 1,500 miles of free range per year.

The base Ocean Sport gets a front-mounted electric motor good for 275 horsepower (205 kilowatts) to enable a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) run in 7.4 seconds. Up next is the Ultra with its added rear motor to give the electric crossover AWD and 540 hp (400 kW) on tap. This will cut the sprint time to 4.2 seconds. The Extreme boosts the output numbers to 550 hp (410 kW) for a sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

As for dimensions, the stylish EV is 4775 mm (188 in) long, 1995 mm (78.5 in) wide, and 1631 mm (64.2 in) tall, with a wheelbase measuring 2921 mm (115 in). It combines a front MacPherson suspension with a multi-link rear and will have a maximum towing capacity of 1,815 kg (4,000 lbs).

Following the Ocean’s rollout, a cheaper Pear electric model is scheduled to arrive in 2024.
