2021 Tesla Model 3 refresh with more electric range and features

The 2021 Tesla Model 3 just received some major updates, including an increased range and performance along with some new features and styling touches.  The new Model 3 now has a higher range across all three models. The Standard Range Plus now has an EPA-estimated range of 263 miles — up from 250 miles — while the Long Range version now promises 353 miles, a 31-mile bump. The Performance model will travel 315 miles on a charge, up from 299 miles.

According to Tesla, 0-60 mph times have been improved, too. Long-range cars will now cover the 0-60 mph run in 4.2 seconds, or 3.7 seconds with the optional boost, down from 4.4 and 3.9 seconds, respectively. Performance models take a tenth off their 0-60 time, covering the distance in 3.1 seconds as opposed to 3.2. There’s no word on if these improvements will be made available to 2020 Model 3 owners via software updates.

Options wise, the 2021 Model 3’s door handles, side turn signals, and window trim now come finished in black trim, instead of chrome. Other changes include a powered trunk and a new set of optional 19-inch wheels. There is also a 20-inch “Überturbine” wheel that come standard on the Performance model.

Inside, the Model 3 gets fixed charging mats for smartphones that support wireless charging, blacked-out door sills and the heat pump HVAC system introduced on the Model Y. There are also five USB ports, after Tesla added one to the glove box.

Customers will need to wait between five and nine weeks to take delivery of a 2021 Tesla Model 3.
