Fisker unveiled the production-intent Ocean last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and now the electric crossover is celebrating its European debut. With no Geneva Motor Show this year, the EV startup has decided to bring its Tesla Model Y rival to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. To be built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria from later this year, the five-seat model aims to deliver the longest range in its segment.

The Ocean will be sold in Sport, Ultra, and Extreme trim levels, plus the One launch edition capped at 5,000 examples. Production is scheduled to commence on November 17 and the launch edition will be prioritized before the regular models arrive in 2023. This special version is based on the range-topping Extreme but with exclusive features.

Fisker still isn’t willing to disclose the battery pack’s capacity, but depending on the trim, we do know the Ocean will deliver from 440 to 630 kilometers in the WLTP cycle and from 250 to 350 miles in the EPA test. However, these are far from being official numbers since they’re only projections made by the company based on internal simulations.

Seven paint choices will be available upon launch, with a further seven to be added to the color palette in 2023. Customers will get to pick from several alloy wheel designs in 20 to 22 inches sizes, along with three themes for the interior where there are optional color packages. Speaking of the cabin, all Fisker Ocean models have a 17.1-inch touchscreen that rotates to offer both portrait and landscape orientations. Some of the models can be fitted with a solar roof for up to 1,500 miles of free range per year.

The base Ocean Sport gets a front-mounted electric motor good for 275 horsepower (205 kilowatts) to enable a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) run in 7.4 seconds. Up next is the Ultra with its added rear motor to give the electric crossover AWD and 540 hp (400 kW) on tap. This will cut the sprint time to 4.2 seconds. The Extreme boosts the output numbers to 550 hp (410 kW) for a sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

As for dimensions, the stylish EV is 4775 mm (188 in) long, 1995 mm (78.5 in) wide, and 1631 mm (64.2 in) tall, with a wheelbase measuring 2921 mm (115 in). It combines a front MacPherson suspension with a multi-link rear and will have a maximum towing capacity of 1,815 kg (4,000 lbs).

Following the Ocean’s rollout, a cheaper Pear electric model is scheduled to arrive in 2024.

Even though Fisker won’t start customer deliveries of its first electric vehicle, the Ocean, until late 2022, preordering is already underway for a second EV. While the Ocean kicks off at $37,499 for the base model, the Pear is substantially more affordable by starting at $29,990. The company has yet to reveal the cheaper EV, but prospective buyers can reserve one for $250.

In an interview with Automotive News, Henrik Fisker was happy to report that Pear has already racked up somewhere in the region of 1,500 reservations at $250 a pop. It’s a surprisingly big number seeing as how deliveries won’t commence in the next two years. The fact people are making deposits for a vehicle they haven’t seen yet is also a bit puzzling, but who are we to judge them?

Billed as an “agile urban EV,” the 2024 Fisker Pear will be a compact model measuring around 4,500 mm (177.1 inches) in length. It promises to offer room for five people, along with “clever storage” areas and features that haven’t been seen yet on a production vehicle. On the dedicated website page where interested parties can place a deposit, the electric crossover is characterized as being “affordable, agile, and styled for city living.”

As to what its name stands for, Fisker is not referring to the fruit. Those four letters form an acronym for Personal Electric Automotive Revolution. The 2024 Pear is expected to deliver 250 miles of range and will be assembled in Ohio through a tie-up with Foxconn, which makes the iPhone and other devices. Other specs are not known, but logic tells us it will have a smaller battery than the 80-kWh pack of the bigger Ocean, which aims to cover 350 miles (563 kilometers) between charges.

With such a long way to go until 2024, Fisker has plenty of time to reveal the Pear and disclose full technical specifications.

Henrik Fisker is a man held in well regard by most BMW enthusiasts, as he penned one of the prettiest Bimmers of all time — the BMW Z8. Fisker also designed the breathtaking Aston Martin DB9, in my eyes one of the best looking machines of any kind ever made. Well, after a bit of a hiatus, Fisker is officially back but this time with an electric SUV that will have pricing to seriously challenge the premium EV competition — the Fisker Ocean.

While the Fisker Ocean was officially announced a couple of years ago, and honestly seemed like a pipe dream that would never come true, it’s officially on the way. Built by Magna Steyr in Austria, the Fisker Ocean will be an EV SUV sized a bit smaller than the BMW iX and will come with four different variants; Fisker Ocean Sport, a long-range Ocean Ultra, a high-performance Ocean Extreme, and a limited-run Ocean One Launch Edition.

The base-spec Fisker Ocean will cost $37,499 in the US (£34,990 in the UK) and will come with 275 horsepower and 250 miles of range. The longer-range Ocean Ultra model will get 350 miles of range and will start at $49,999. However, the Ocean Extreme model will get around 550 horsepower and will start at around $68,999. The Ocean One Launch Edition will also be $68,999 and will come fully loaded with all options, though it likely won’t have the Extreme model’s performance.

It looks great, too. Typical of Fisker, the Ocean is simple, elegant, and sophisticated. It looks sporty but not overly so and, despite being a crossover, seems to be sensibly sized. The cabin is minimalist but very stylish, with interesting materials and a massive central screen that has the ability to rotate from portrait to landscape, depending on the driver’s preference. It has some whiffs of Tesla on the inside, in terms of its design, but looks more interesting and more chic. No surprise from Henrik Fisker.

The Ocean will make its official European debut later this month, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and deliveries will begin later this year. While the Fisker Ocean seemed like a longshot to ever get built when it was first announced, Henrik Fisker has learned several paramount lessons from his previous automotive venture, the Fisker Karma. With those lessons learned, he was able to fix his mistakes with the Ocean and it looks like the world is going to get a very interesting new EV SUV from one of the most talented people in the automotive world.

Even though EV startup Fisker has yet to reveal the production version of its Ocean SUV, let alone the Pear, plans are already underway for two additional fully electric vehicles. CEO Henrik Fisker told Automotive News the company aims to go after traditional premium marques with not one, but two high-end vehicles that are slated to arrive in 2024.

Details are scarce at this point, but Fisker’s head honcho says these cars won’t be volume-oriented models like the Ocean and Pear as the luxury EVs will be built in significantly fewer quantities. One of the cars is expected to cost anywhere from €70,000 to €80,000 (about $81,500 to $93,100 at current exchange rates) and ride on a platform developed by Magna Steyr.

Fisker’s flagship car will carry a sticker price in excess of €100,000 ($116,400) and will be more exclusive than the other by limiting the production run furthermore. The company’s top brass didn’t go into details about which platform it will use, thus suggesting it would not share the underpinnings with the other luxury EV.

2024 is still a long way, and the first order of business is to unveil the road-going Ocean pictured here as a concept. That will happen next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but customer deliveries will not start until November 2022. It will be built in Austria by Magna Steyr and is expected to look virtually the same as the namesake concept car from last year’s CES.

As far as the Pear is concerned, it’s going to be assembled in the United States by Foxconn, a Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer that puts together everything from gaming consoles to the iPhone. Earlier this week, Foxconn announced its intention to enter the EV segment with three concepts: Model C SUV, Model E sedan, and the Model T bus.

While the Ocean is going to carry a starting price of $37,499 before incentives, the Pear will be cheaper, with Henrik Fisker telling Automotive News the vehicle will have an asking price of approximately $30,000.

Fisker unveiled the all-electric Ocean SUV in January 2020 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. However, that was more along the lines of a concept car and now we get to find out we’ll have to wait until November to see the production version at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The reveal was made by Henrik Fisker on Twitter where he used some big words the describe the interior cabin of his upcoming EV.

Per the company’s head honcho, the electric crossover will boast an “absolutely amazing interior,” one that will incorporate “the most amazing center screen and user interface.” However, it’s worth mentioning the Ocean won’t enter production until the final quarter of 2022, which means early adopters are in for a long wait.

Due to be manufactured in Austria by Magna Steyr, the Fisker Ocean promises to offer a maximum range of 300 miles and carry a starting price of $37,499 before any applicable EV-related incentives). It’s certainly an attractive price, one that has lured in 17,300 customers who have made paid reservations, on top of 62,000 people who have expressed an interest in buying the electric crossover. Aside from having paid reservations from future individual owners, the firm has taken fleet orders from the likes of Credit Agricole Consumer Finance, Onto, and Viggo.

As a refresher, the Ocean (and its solar roof) will come in a range-topping version featuring an all-wheel-drive system courtesy of dual electric motors delivering a combined output of more than 536 horsepower (400 kilowatts). It will slot above the entry-level 302-hp configuration and both will use an aluminum-intensive platform developed by Magna Steyr.

In order to support the Ocean’s rollout, the company plans to inaugurate six Fisker Brand Experience Centers, with the first ones to be opened early next year in Munich and Los Angeles. The remaining four will be located in London, Miami, Copenhagen, and New York during the latter half of 2022.

It would appear the Ocean SUV is not the only new electric vehicle Fisker is working on as the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Foxconn for a separate EV. It’s currently known by its “Project PEAR” (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) codename and aims to become a “breakthrough new segment vehicle.”

A rather vague design sketch accompanied the press release, presumably hinting at the design and shape the new mysterious EV will take. The exaggerated wheels suggest it will be an off-road-oriented vehicle, perhaps a more rugged SUV than the Ocean, but it’s too soon to know for sure. All we have at the moment of writing is that it’ll be a “vehicle that crosses social borders, while offering a combination of advanced technology, desirable design, innovation, and value for money.”

That’s not saying much is it? Whatever it’ll be, Fisker pledges it’s going to stay true to the company’s ethos of creating “the world’s most sustainable vehicles.” The EV brand aims to start production in the third quarter of 2023 and Foxconn will be in charge of manufacturing, with the goal to build more than 250,000 units each year.

It’s quite an ambitious sales target and makes us wonder whether the model in question will be a smaller and cheaper EV to slot below the Ocean, even though the sketch suggests otherwise. Foxconn chairman Young-way Liu says the tie-up cuts the time it takes for a new vehicle to be developed and brought to the market in half.

Fisker aims to go global with the new electric vehicle by selling it in Europe, North America, China, and India. By making it available in the world’s second-most populous country, it could be another hint the car will have a lower starting price since India is still very much an emerging region.

Meanwhile, the Ocean will be shown as a production-intent prototype later this year and Fisker claims the electric SUV has already racked up more than 12,000 paid reservations. Series production is scheduled to commence in the final quarter of 2022.

Fisker Inc. teamed up with auto supplier Magna International to turn the electric Ocean SUV into a production version. The company still has a long way to go as the model is not scheduled to hit the assembly line until November 2022. In the meantime, Henrik Fisker took to LinkedIn to preview what he describes as being a lifestyle pickup truck.

Right off the bat, it’s important to mention the EV teased here is not the Alaska electric truck that Henrik Fisker “accidentally” previewed on Twitter back in February 2020. The new official rendering published by the company’s head honcho is for a different truck, one that he says “might” go into production at some point in the future.

If it does, the utilitarian vehicle will be the “lightest, most efficient EV pickup in the world.” The exterior design is bound to go through some changes as Henrik Fisker says a road-going model would look “way more radical.” We do notice the pickup bed is rather but that’s not all too surprising seeing as how the firm’s CEO and chairman calls it a lifestyle truck. These are usually on the small side when it comes to the bed’s size, much like it’s the case with the Honda Ridgeline for example.

We’re intrigued by the door handle design and why the rear handle is positioned after the doors. The roof-mounted spoiler hosts a wide third brake light while the sweptback taillights lend the truck a dynamic look we’d like to see in real life. The bulging wheel arches and sharp body lines give it a powerful stance and we’re noticing there’s a tiny glass section near the A-pillar to improve visibility.

Don’t hold your breath to see a production-ready electric lifestyle truck anytime soon considering Fisker has bigger fish to fry right now. The Ocean SUV is the absolute priority and pledges to be the “world’s most sustainable vehicle.” It starts off at $37,499 before incentives and boasts an 80-kWh battery for a range estimated at 250-300 miles (402-483 kilometers).
