2024 Fisker Pear Racks Up 1,500 Preorders Even Before EV’s Reveal

Even though Fisker won’t start customer deliveries of its first electric vehicle, the Ocean, until late 2022, preordering is already underway for a second EV. While the Ocean kicks off at $37,499 for the base model, the Pear is substantially more affordable by starting at $29,990. The company has yet to reveal the cheaper EV, but prospective buyers can reserve one for $250.

In an interview with Automotive News, Henrik Fisker was happy to report that Pear has already racked up somewhere in the region of 1,500 reservations at $250 a pop. It’s a surprisingly big number seeing as how deliveries won’t commence in the next two years. The fact people are making deposits for a vehicle they haven’t seen yet is also a bit puzzling, but who are we to judge them?

Billed as an “agile urban EV,” the 2024 Fisker Pear will be a compact model measuring around 4,500 mm (177.1 inches) in length. It promises to offer room for five people, along with “clever storage” areas and features that haven’t been seen yet on a production vehicle. On the dedicated website page where interested parties can place a deposit, the electric crossover is characterized as being “affordable, agile, and styled for city living.”

As to what its name stands for, Fisker is not referring to the fruit. Those four letters form an acronym for Personal Electric Automotive Revolution. The 2024 Pear is expected to deliver 250 miles of range and will be assembled in Ohio through a tie-up with Foxconn, which makes the iPhone and other devices. Other specs are not known, but logic tells us it will have a smaller battery than the 80-kWh pack of the bigger Ocean, which aims to cover 350 miles (563 kilometers) between charges.

With such a long way to go until 2024, Fisker has plenty of time to reveal the Pear and disclose full technical specifications.
