Renault EV Product Roadmap Until 2025 Shows Scenic Is Going Electric

The Renault Group Conference held today contained interesting details about how the French company aims to bolster its offerings in the EV segment. The electric onslaught is kicking off this year with the launch of the Megane E-Tech crossover, joined by the Kangoo EV van and a zero-emission sedan part of the Mobilize car-sharing branch.

Things will be relatively quiet in 2023 when only two products will hit the streets, a tiny city car for Mobilize and a passenger version of the Kangoo van. 2024 will be the busiest year with the launch of four Renault models, a Dacia EV, and an Alpine without a combustion engine. We already knew about the Renault 5 and its hotter Alpine equivalent, and Luca de Meo announced today the next-generation Dacia Spring is also coming that year.

It will retain its CMF-A platform rather than switching to the CMF-B architecture underpinning the Renault 5 and the future Renault-built Nissan Micra replacement. The head honcho went on to say the Renault 4 is also going into production as a CMF-B-based car while the aging Scenic minivan will switch to the CMF-EV platform. It’s already in use for the Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya, with the Alpine GT-X Over crossover due in 2025 to use the same underpinnings.

As you have probably guessed by now, the big vehicle hiding under a white car cover is an electric van, potentially a Renault Trafic EV or Master EV. Although 2026 is not included in the roadmap, that’s when we are expecting to see a sports car from Alpine, co-developed with Lotus to replace the mid-engined A110 Coupe available today.

Meanwhile, Renault will unveil a revolutionary concept car this coming May with a combustion engine adapted to run on hydrogen. Toyota is working on this promising technology as well, but it remains to be seen whether it’s feasible for production.
